Andropause
Andropause is the male equivalent to female menopause. Men experience age-related changes in their hormone levels. Declining testosterone and DHEA are commonly seen in men beginning in their 40’s—sometimes even earlier. These anabolic building hormones in men play a major role in maintaining both physical and mental health. For example, they increase energy and decrease fatigue; they help in maintaining erectile function and normal sex drive; and increase the strength of all structural tissues in the skin, bones, and muscles, including the heart. Proper levels of androgens also help prevent depression and mental fatigue.Testing and Treatment for Hormone Imbalance in Men
Undiagnosed hormone imbalances are often linked to increased risks for prostate disease, low sex drive, rapid aging and poor quality of life in general. You can have your hormone levels tested by a simple blood test, or by saliva testing. Talk to your prescriber about which test is best for you.Once it is determined that you have a hormone imbalance and testosterone replacement is needed, a prescription is required from your prescriber. The Custom Compounding Center can specifically make your medication to the exact dosage needed. With a compounded prescription, the dosage can be individually adjusted as needed or as determined with follow-up testing.Androgen Deficiency in Aging Men (ADAM) Test
